W at 11 [o'clock] the wind shifted suddenly
to the Sth W at 12 the weather & sea
increasing Ship labours hard Cut our whales
[Flukes] off & let her gone wore Ship directly &
Stood to the N ward So Goes no Obs Lat

began with a Gale from the W ward but
rather decreasing at 8 in the morning Set
Top Sails & Steered to the N ward by the wind
In hopes of finding our whale latter part calm
at Sun Set Furled Top Gallant Sails & Steered
E by Sth by Compass so remains Lat Obsd

Wednesday the 9 th

Began with Strong winds from about Nth
which lasted through the day Ship under all
Sail Steering E S E & after running all day
without seeing the Spout of a whale Furled
Top sails & lay by So goes Lat Obsd 36:20

Thursday the 10th

all this day Strong winds from the N ward
Ship under three Top Sails course Steered
E S E by compass Saw nothing worth remarks
at Sun Set furled Top Sails & lay by So remains
