Friday Aug. 15th Commences with fogg [FOG]. At 8 AM clears with a fresh breeze from South. Steer West. Steer West for the land. Saw four or five ships. At 3 PM coming on thick weather and rain. Wear ship and steer by the wind NE by E. At 6 PM take in sail heading ENE with double reefed main top sail and fore sail. So ends this day etc. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 53°=05" N Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro [CHRONOMETER] 161°=41" E

Saturday August 16th All of this 24 hours strong gales from the S & E. At 6 AM make some sail and steer North untill [UNTIL] 12 Mer [MERIDIAN] with a thick fogg [FOG]. Then take in sail and head off ENE. Saw one sail. Carry and double reefed top sail. Latt [LATITUDE] [Obs CROSSED OUT] by Acct [ACCOUNT] 53°=50" N Long [LONGITUDE] by Acct [ACCOUNT] 162°=12" East

Sunday August 17th This 24 hours fog and rain as usual. Saw two or three sail[S]. Wind from the Southward. Thus ends the day. -- Latt [LATITUDE] [Obs CROSSED OUT] by Acct [ACCOUNT] 54 30 Long [LONGITUDE] by Acct [ACCOUNT] 163°=20" East

Monday August 18th Fore part of the day we have a moderate breeze from the Westward and clear weather. Spoke ship Citizen of Sag Harbor, Capt [CAPTAIN] Lanning[?], 1200 bls [BARRELS]. Afternoon hours thick fogg [FOG]. Wind from SSE. So ends the day. Latt [LATITUDE] Obs [OBSERVATION] 54°=43" North Long [LONGITUDE] by Chro [CHRONOMETER] 162°=47" East
