To make an Egg pye
Take a stale halfpenny loaf pare off the crust cut
it in thin slices put them in a pint of milk &
boil till the bread is quite soft then beat it till
of the substance of thick cream these take a clean
sauce pan & melt seven or eight pences of butter
beat up twenty eggs with all the whites & a spoonful
or two of sugar take a pound of currants washd &
draind with a little nutmeg & cinnamon & a teaspoon
full or two of salt put all the ingredients in a large
saucepan over the fire & keep stirring it till quite
thick roll a very thin sheet of paste & put upon a dish
butterd pour the eggs &c upon it & send it to bake
it should be sweetind & spiced as you like it.
