Oyl of St Johns wort

Eaight wine pints of old oyle olive 2 pints of the
best white wine 8 handfuls of the Flowers of st
Johns wort pickt from the Green & brused in an
Alibaster morter put the Flo oyl wine into
a glass stoped very colse set it in the sun 2 days
then boyle it in a pot of faire water & stuff it
about with Hay that the glass stir not when it
has boyled halfe an hower straine it & put in the
same quantity of Flo as before this must be done
3 times seting it in the sunn before euery boyling
the 3d time straine it very hard measure it &
put to euery wine pint 12 ounces of ven[y]
Turpentine the cleerest & whitest 6 ounces
of oyl of Almons Dictamo gentium Turmintilla
calamo Arsmart corlua cordosanto each 4
drams red earth wormes 4 ounces often
washed in whit wine slit on a bodkin be at
all but the womes put them all into the oyl
adding to euery pint 3 penyworth of english
saffron whol 2 good handfuls of the fresh Flo
of st Johns wort set thes in the sun 40
days the older it is the better
It is hot & dry cures all wounds in a short
time shrunk sinves pation of the Heart a Burne
sinves shrunk paine in the Bladder or lower
parts of the belly provoles vain wormes in children
palsys deafnes being dropt into the eare

Lady St John Stomach Oyntment

A quart of the best oyl or oyl of Roses just to it wild
thime red mints wormwood Hysope Bawm each a handful
red rose Leaves 2 handfuls ginger halfe an ounce mace
i ounce bay berrys the same beat grosly put all thes together
into a long gally pot boyle the pott in water 5
howers strain it but not to hard & put into it 3 ounces
of orang Flower Butter halfe a quarter of an ounce of oyl
of cynomon a quarter of an ounce of oyl cloves 2 ounces
of good bees wax 10 grains of Ambergreice melt & well
in corporate all thes things & put it up in a Gally pott
It is good for coughs colds windynes in the stomach
for digestian vomiting consumptions anoynting the
Temples causes sleep.

An oyntment for wind in the stomach

oyl of wormwood of mastick of Thirce ana 2 ounces
boyle thes together with 3 drops of vineger
halfe a sponful of Aqua composita white wix as
much as a walnutt anoynt the stomach Lay on a
warme cloth
