So long as the Infection is not very neare it may be
suffitient to take a dose of Pill Ruffi once in a month
& to have this drink in the House & euery one take
a draught euery morning Brew some middleing Ale
for a vessel of 8 gallons when it has worked put in to
it of wormwood 2 handfuls elucampane rootes
sliced an ounce
When ther is danger of infection fume the House
euery morning with the smoke of this Powder strewd
on coles & Burnt in each rome.
Brimstone a pound salt Peter halfe a pound Ashen
Bark powdred a qtr of a pount
Let each Partye take euery morning of this Electuary
& againe at night as much as a nuttmeg
Rue Leaves a pound the same of Blew Figgs & of
the Kirnels of walnutts or Filberds halfe so much
beat thes to an electuary in a morter
Or elce take a spoonful of this Liquor
Rootes of Angelica Zedoary virginian snake

scordium carduvs each a handful mince all smal
put it in a great glass Bottle with 3 qrts of white
wine vinegar
It is good to hang about the neck neare the Hart a little
bag with thes ingredients
Powder of snakeweek a dram rootes of Angelica & elicam
pany each 3 drams camphir a dram make all into fine
powder adde to it an ounce of Balsame of [Capiuy] put
as much as a nuttmeg in a Bag
If any be infected put them in bed take this potion
venes Treacle a dram 6 drams of Treacle water of the
vineger above mentioned 2 spoonfuls let them sweat not sleep

in five or six hourers after sleep & euery i2 or i6 or 24 hourers as
ther strength is able to repeat the sweating potion wch make
strong or weak according to the Age & strength of the person
after they are pritty well 2 little pills of pill Ruffi in the morning

claws 2 ounces perl white & red corral crabbs eyes burnt
Harts horne all christal each an ounce occidental Bezor
Terra Lemnic each halfe an ounce [eerus] of Antimony 2
ounces scutchennela halfe an ounce Ambergreica a dram
& a halfe musk halfe a dram an ounce of white Amber the
cerus of Antimony must be Fixt cerus & the scuchenela
that of mexico the crabbs claws taken in June all the things
must be powdred severally & Levigated on a marble stone
with some cordial water dryd carduvs water or Juyce of
cittrons made up severaly into cakes & dryed in the sunn
& then all mixed after they are made to powder againe
& made up with Jelly of Adders skins & Hartshorne a
little tinctured with saffron & let the Jelly be made
with cardvus water
To cause sleep in the smal Pox or Measles
Six drams of Treacle water & halfe an ounce of Dia
codium
My Lady Gauden to a child that had a losenes & vomit
ing in the Smal Pox & was a yeare & a halfe old
Twelve sponfuls of Plague water a spoonful of Diaco
dium a little Dias Cordium give it a sponful once in
3 hourers if it cast it up give another presently
guovy boyle it in poset drink will bring them out if
struck in
