The Consumption Syrrup, {X} {S} Take two quarts of the first running of Ale wort-and boyl in it, two ounces of Balsam of Tolu, One Ounce of flower of Brimstone and one ounce of Elacampaneroot cut thin, put them in a masline with a stone to sink them, let boyl, three quarters of an houre very gently, then take it off scum it and add to it two handfulls of ground Ivy dry'd, and an ounce of liquorish scliced, a few Carraway seeds bruis'd and ahandfull of Raisins. and three ounces of conserve of red Roses boyl it to a quart then take it off and straine it and boyl it to syrrup, with white sugar Candy powdered, let the party take a spoonfull in the morning before dinner, at noone and at night;

you may add a little syrrup of Rasps for the taste sake if you please;

For the mang in a Dog {X} {M}

as much as a nuttmeg of venes Turpentine & as much as a gray peas of quicksilver beat them together tel you cannot se the quicksilver then role it up in Butter & give it fasting & let the dog fast 4 howers or more you need give it but once this is for a little Dog tryed it to two of mine

For any swelling in a Horse, by a Bruse a certain cur A poonful of spint of Turpentine such as painters use + as much as two walnutts of Hoggs lard melt them together + anoynt it warme ther with once or twice a day at least + keep it warm if it be in a place it may be done For a Horse sick of the Plague in tha Gutts two quarts of muscadine a pint + a half of Angelico water a handful of Rue green & one of mithradate an ounce of Treacle good [store?] of Long pepper Liquorish raisins & Ginger let this be boyld to a qrt give it to a Horse at 3 [...] mornings with a home & raigne him well up for an hower wrap him warme with clothes Keep him from the Ayr tel he be well & let him have warme mashes with mouth for a [Galed] horse Back excelent Take fresh Butter boyle it tel tis burnt black than pour some exceeding hott upon the soar Straw upon it the powder of the upper Leather of a Burnt shoe A woman who bred much poltry told me that she never lost a chick after she gave them when sick a little warm urin of a woman 3 times a day in the [Roup] they am so a thirst that they will drink it themselves set it by them. but fresh a warm often
