Fort Worth, Texas, may 16th, 1908.
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Fort Worth, Texas.
Gentlemen:-
On behalf of the Ikard heirs I beg to present to your Honorable Body the attached plat which the Ikard heirs propose at once to make of their property on Tucker Hill. As will be seen from said plat they propose to dedicate to the City and the Public a Street 60w300 feet, running East and West through said property, and in consideration of the donation of said Street they respectfully ask of your Honorable Body that the back taxes on said property to-wit, the East three-quarters of Blocks Four and Five, Tucker's Addition, be cancelled, up to and includinf the year 1901. In other words, they propose that for the cancellation of said taxes they will give to the CIty a Street 60x300 feet, which will add very materially to the taxable values in that part of Fort Wroth. I believe that I am justified in saying that if the proposition is accepted the City will experience no trouble in collecting the taxes in the future.
Very respectfully,
Ben O Smith

The Honorable, the Mayor, and the City Council, Fort Worth, Texas
Gentlemen:-
I have to report that in the suit by the State of Texas agasint J. G. Ikard, et al., for State and County taxes, aggregating $2025.20 judgment was rendered, today, the 16th inst., in favor of tume state agasint the City and the other defendants for the full taxes, as stated above. Foreclosure was ordered against the property on which the taxis owing, it bein the E. 3/4 of Blocks 4 and 5, of Tucker's Addition.
Some weeks ago, I called attention in the necessaity of taking action to protect the city taxes owing in cases such as this. If this property were open to the public, I am convinced it would seen be taken up and the amount owing the city paid. So long as the owner alone is permitted to buy the City's claim, there is little prospect of payment.
This property is not held for a public purpose. and the courts will not permit the City to stand in theway of the collection of other taxes of equal dignity.
Respectfully Submitted,
Wm. D. Williams City Attorney.
