Dear Alice:

Arrived here Thursday
at eleven o'clock a.m. after some
trouble and hard work. I suppose
Rev. Thomas has told you about our
leaving Ross Field. We arrived in San
Francisco Tuesday morning and
boarded the Army Transport, "Logan,"
which I am sending you a picture
of. This is the slowest ship on the
Pacific Ocean. It has four decks. You
know the "Third Balloon Company"
always gets the worst end of everything
so we lived and slept on the lower deck
