Dear Sir Boston June 20th, 1766
I rec[d] your fav[r] requesting I would procure you a Ship Car-
penter to build a Vessell in South Caroline I have accordingly engaged
Mr. Joshua Springgs Copy of whose agreements you have inclos'd
herein he is an honest diligent faithfull good workman & has Spirit
of Goverment sufficient to keep your Servants to their Duty he is
the only person xxx xxxxx xx xxxx has offer'd that would answer your pur-
pose his wages are high but within your Limitation he will be
with you as neat the Time as possible if an Opportunity presents
about the middle of October he proposes going then but if you have
supply'd yourself with a Carpenter or decline building next fall
he is willing to be off the barg[^ain] provided he knows your Mind
before he sails for xxx [^your] Place of which you'll please to advise
in Season As to a Master for the Sloop it will be difficult
to procure one you can depend on I have not met with one yet
I think would answer, by the Time he is wanted I may be so
lucky as to finf on byt (having mislaid your Letter) must beg
the fav[our] in your next will repeat Your Terms having
forgot what they were should wrote you before had I met with
a Carpenter sooner by Spriggs shalll send you annual Supply
of Fish am glad the last prov'd to liking Mr Loyd joyns me
in our best Compliment to your & your good Lady

This will be handled you by Mr. Ja[s]. Macubbin Merch[ant] of
Philadelphia travelling your way to see the Country being a stranger
any Civilities shown hinm will be gratefully acknowledg'd by
Mr. Campbell a Jamaica Gentleman accompanys Your most hum[ble] Serv[ant]
Mr. Maccubin who I beg leave to recommend also
