to form a better judgment, I have recommended se-
veral places to him to board at, which I know to be
good & think will be convenient for him, & have desired
him while here to make as free at my house as he would
at yours, & am ready to serve him, with my advice & [?]
as he may have occasion. & as he proposes to travel
thro the country, will give him letters among my friends
if he desires it. I cant but think his coming here
will be a service to you as well as to himself, as here-
by you may know the different circumstances of your
correspondents here, & govern your self accordingly.
And doubt not we shall find it for our mutual in-
terest to be concerned further in business, & in
any concerns this way shall be ready to serve you.
& am with due respect.
Sir
Y'r Very Humb. Serv't

Gentl'n
This acknowledges the re-
ceipt of your favr per Capt. Shand, inclosing invoice &
bill lading for sundry merchandise amounting to £149•6•5
which find right & have credited your acct. accordingly.
Am sorry to add you have not kept to my order in
particular with relation to the superf. cloth you sent
me which I wrote so particularly about. I wrote
for the best cloth without limitation price but this
is not. I inclosed a pattern a dark olive, this a snuff
colour (the cloth you sent Mr. Pidgeon was the colour)
& the shalloon, twist & buttons are a different colour
from the cloth & no way a match. That I must now
write for the articles to match it before I can
