ding. Both are to be had from the south of France

7. Cratagus azarolus — is to be had from the same
country, two varieties with white or red fruit.
It is one of the most delightful fruits when perfec-

8. Ceratonia siliqua. Large and beautiful tree
of the south of Europe, which grows well in
sandy or dry soil. Its fruit which is always
abundant is good nauvi? aliment for horses mules
cows. Is cultivated very extensively in Spain
and Portugal. Being polygamous, a male branch
if engrafted on a female tree and the male ones
are extirpated when numerous. The timber is
excellent, and I am persuaded this tree would
be a real acquisition to S. Carolina. It comes
easily from seed.
