Copy of a letter from the Secretary
of the province dated Halifax April the 10th. 1786
to {Lieutenant} Colonel Joseph Barton, at Digby.

Sir,

The governot having been
informed that some tracts of land on
the Common laid out in the Township of
Digby, have been assigned and laid out
for Individuals; I am therefore to acquaint
you that it is His Excellencys directions
that all such proceedings shall immediately
cease, and what has hither to been alone
is not valid nor of any Effect
