Have returned from Providence. M. & I went on the 28th.
Staid at 49 Waterman St. Miss Weeden. Fine time. Lunched &
dined out all the time. I saw a good deal of W.W. Bailey.
He is in pretty good health now. We went over this rooms at the
College. Saw Osterhaut. Saw Mrs. Bailey, Whit & Meg. Saw the
Steeres, Allens, Blakes, Hoppins, Tobey &c. Tramped with
Rebecca through Cat Swamp. Mr. Hoppin & Tracy
took me on a long drive over the Boulevards and
over the river down Westminster St. Had a fine
view of the City from the Terrace. Dined at
Mrs. Allen's and Mrs. Richmonds. Lunched at Mrs.
Steere's, Miss Allen's and Mr Dorrance's. Tead at
Mrs. Tobey's. Bailey has very small quarters
for his botanical work at the College, far
too small. His wife is very attractive! and
full of energy. Meg is a sweet child. Prof.
Blake showed me his new Phys. Laboratory.
Left to-day at 4.15. Home by 6.30.
