9) In wet or moist land have observed ye bulb much larger. Is ye bulbed grass a distinct species. Measured spike, in spcn 6 1/2 inch — some are beyond all doubt — 9 inch — 5 & 6 com= =mon in rich land. Joints in some stalks dark brown — Anth. generally murry or purple.

Milium effusum Millet Grass. Gen. & Spec. Ch perfectly accord.

Valves of calix ovate, sharpe pointed. or properly acuminated outer side. reddish — fine hair scattered over ye surfacr. Corol. valves much shorter than Cal Blossoms some what cartilagius — or membranaceous rather — glossy — no hairs at ye base= not keeled — Very common in moist land & in meadows that are pretty hard. Mature.

10) a considerable proportion of ye grass in some moist meadows & runs. Grows very thick about 2 1/2 feet high — pretty good hay. This grass appears reddish at a distance & is easily distinguished.

Straws hallow — cylind. striated — slender. branches some what verticulate, like Poa, when they are sent off from stalks — panicle spreading, when in bloom. fruit stalks crooked, set with very short hairs.

In my river meadow near shore — Maple meadow — Field — old House. —

It frequently grows in patches as thick as a mat.

Anthers yellow — filat. very short. Stig. [parcit?] form

12) to be an appendage is of a dark purple. The the inner scale of equal length lanceo= =late, terminating in an obicu= = circular coloured apendage, irregular= =ly cilated, — ye fringe upright. — It may be described — outer & shorter squama, entire, ovato — towards ye apex widening & terminating in again into an ovate form — coloured fringe — with long, distinct, tapering fring.
