Bloss bright yellow, erect — ye stile is reclined to one side of ye Blossom. Capsule {oblongo-ovate 4 acute angles — between each of them an obtuse angle. Stem generally of reddish colour — frequently ye lower leaves.

Stems nearly, erect, lower part frequently reddish — Lower leaves — long petioles terminating in three obcordate leaves. The leaves perfectly heart-shaped — With ye apex of ye heart connected with ye petiole. In ye axilla of ye long stemed leaves, one or two short petioles are sent of with 3 smaller leaves on each stem. Long flower stems go off from ye axilla of ye upper leaves — & ye stalk terminates in a flower stem

26 June 28 Potentilla repens Gen et Sp. chr accord. Stems among bushes ascend & sometimes 1 foot high —

All the leaves in 5 — oblong serrated. Bloss yellow — It creeps in fields & open ground.

There is excellent drawing of this plant in Curtis! Bot. Mag. Vol. 4. p 116. The leaf is broader & longer than any plant I have seen. The bulbs are very accurately represented. The lower bulb, wh taken out of ye ground, has generally ye lower part of ye decayed stalk wh grew from it ye last year. From ye

27 ye side of ye last years' bulb, wh remains formed a new bulb grows out & produces the perfect stem. At ye junction of ye bulbs are virticilate set of fibrous roots. As ye plant decays ye new bulb is enlarged & becomes of equal size with its parent bulb — The fibrous roots are well represented —

The colouring is natural but some shades deeper than ye plants

The stem grows from 12 to 18 inches in hight. The leaf only one, is nar= =row, & does not ascend so high as ye spike — embracing ye stem. has 3 longitudinal nerves on each side ye rib. Number of Blossoms general 4 or 5 — some times only 3 — &sometimes ye greatest no. I have noticed is 7 8 — Vid. Spn. broken off spike.

It propegates more from ye root than seed. Two bulbs & sometimes three are found adhering — When there is but one bulb at time of flowering it is small.

Blossom is a full, bright red.

But one stalk I believe can ascends from ye same root is it annual?

June 28 Serapias unifolia. N. Sp. Nodding Serapias, of one flower.

The form of ye flower — & especially ye Nect. & lip agrees well with ye figures of ye S. latifol. [latifolia] — palustris — gran =diflora — ensifolia & rubra in Sower= =by's Eng. Bot. Vol. 4 & 7 — but it is a different species.
