4 } Osmuda virg.? [Osmunda virginiana?] No. 4 is I apprehend O. Virg. [Osmunda virginiana?] but Vid. p. 19 there is a variety of O. Lunaria [Osmunda luneria], of which I have not indeed seen any specimens that very much resembles it. I should wish to see a spec. of ye N. Eng. plant after having shed ye seed.

6 } Osmunda regalis? Osmunda struthiopteris? Vid. p.19. } No. 6 contain'd 2 plants of larger leaved seem young shoots of O. regalis [Osmunda regalis]. The narrow leaves resembles O. struthiop. [Osmunda struthiopteris] but as there is a great resemblance between ye barron leaves of Polypod. Thel. [Polypodium thelypteris?] & several of ye Osmunda, nothing certain can be determined without obser.

Trichomanes [Asplenium trichomanes]. In ye more advanced stages of its growth, ye spots of fruitifi= =tion become circular, resembling a Polypodium, but I can not refer it to any of yt genus.

#10 (repeated) Polypod. bulbiferum [Polypodium bulbiferum]? No. 10 repeated. corresponds pretty well with ye spic. char. of P. bulb. but there are no bulbs to be seen under neath. The frondes are only pinnate, foliolis pinnatifidis, but the distinctions in ye 4th subdivision of ye genus are not constant, varying with ye age of ye plant.
