Dear Miriam. I received your nice letter this morning and enjoyed hearing from you very much. I hope you're feeling well and able to go out on the porch and enjoy the nice weather we're having I went outside today for a while and got a big bunch of lamb quarters to boil they're very good to eat I imagine you've tried those before. and I think the guarden's going to do just find all the seeds are planted and they will lucky enough to get about [?] ten wheel barrows of organic fertilizer to enrich the soil. I can't wait for the mustard to come up. that's one of my favorites especially with pork and onions. it's a shame they dont buy that kind instead of spinach for the institution. I imagine one is just as cheap as the other.

[?] got an encouraging letter from the attourney General last week explaining that the Walpole administration has the power to put us out into the general population and to receive visits from friends. I hope he decides on the visiting privileges soon. Miriam do you happen to know a very old book of the 17 or the 1840s of the history of america concerning lavery or the dealing with the slave trade? I've been looking for one for a long time and cant seem to locate an old book concerning the united states that far back. if you have one I would like to borrow it from your collection. when I see father foley I'll let him know that you got your book back safetly.

so long for now take care.

very truly yours. Charles E Tracy

I received your nice letter saturday and enjoyed hearing from you very much. well yesterday was the first day of summer and it's very hot and humed out I went out in the yard monday I got as far as the door and changed my mind it's better for me to go out in the morning when its a little cooler and the sun is behind the building. thanks for ordering the book on the american slave states or the history of the slave trade I appreciate it very much we don't have very many books on american history in the library. not the kind that I'm looking for. I like to read the real old books on that subject.
