Anise Loaf
Beat together well ⅝ cup sugar
and 2 eggs. Sift + measure
and sift in 1½ cups flour
Add ¼ tsp anise. Drop cookies
from teaspoon 1 inch apart on
a greased cookie pan. Let
stand overnight to dry. Bake in
a slow oven 300° F. 20 to 30 min.
Store in tight container several
hours days before using. Makes
about 40 cookies.
Ginger Stars
Sift and measure 2 cups flour
Add 1¼ cups powdered sugar
1 tbsp ginger, ⅔ cup chopped
candied orange peels, 2 ehhs, well
beaten. Mix all ingredients
to a dough. Roll out ¼ inch
thick on a well-floured
board. Cut with star cookie
cutter + place on a greased
cookie sheet. Let stand
several hours + bake in
moderate oven 375° F. 10 to 15
minutes. These cookies are
very hard.
