istration of Mr Hanson. I think I shall arrive at the correct amount. Great hardships have been brought upon some persons with whom Mr Hanson did business, in some cases resulting in reducing parties to actual want. In such cases, it would afford me pleasure to see the obligations of the Government discharged. I have been compelled to incur some expense in collecting these evidences of indebtedness and I would suggest that a small per cent be retained from the amount appropriated to pay the same, to pay for advertising and other expenses incurred in this business. The creditors would not consider this any hardship, as, in nearly all cases, we have to arrange their papers for them. I submitted my plan for gathering the liabilities to our Congressional delegation and they aprroved the same.

Very Respectfully.
