At a meeting of the Congregation of St. John's Church held in the Church on Easter Monday April 11th. 1887 Rev: Lewis W. Burton Meridius. The meeting being held for the purpose of electing a vestry for the ensuing year Merry Thomas S. Macon and George L. Currie members of the vestry and Sergeant Benjamin F. Howard were appointed judges to [superintend ?] the election - A ballot being taken the following gentlemen were elected to serve as vestrymen for the ensuing year to wit: Merry E. A. Saunders Richard L. Brown Cyrus F. Mayer James W. Shields George L. Currie Thomas S. Macon George K. Taylor G. G. Merior Jos: R. Roane John A. Curtis Dr. L. C. Crump and on motion the meeting adjourned Rev K. Tay for SecyI do believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the Word of God, and to contain all things necessary to salvation; and I do yield my hearty assent and approbation to the doctrines, worship and discipline of the Protestant Episcopal Church in these United States; and I promisew that I will faithfully execute the office of vestryman of St. John's Church in Henrico county, according to my best Knowledge and skill.
