Know all men, by These Presents, that I , James F Fry, of the county of Albemarle in the State of Virginia, have given and delivered to my son-in-law James D Goodman, of the City of Richmond, and do, by These Presents give and deliver into his possession, a negro woman, Amanda, aged about twenty eight years, and her child, Milly, aged about twelve years, the same, with the future in crease of both, to be, by him, held kept, and appropriated. In Trust, for the sole use and benefit of my daughter Ann Elizabeth, wife of the said James D Goodman, and the children of the said James D Goodman & his wife Ann Elizabeth, free from the contracts, debts, liabilities or marital rights of the said

James D Goodman, in all respects, and to every intent and purpose; and in no manner to be kept, used, appropriated or regarded in any other light or to any other use, purpose or intent, than for the sole use, and benefit of my said daughter Ann Elizabeth, and her children, under the trust hereby created under and vested in the said James D Goodman. The power to sell either or both of the said slaves, or their future increase, should such sale be deeded advisable, is hereby given and fully vested in the said James D Goodman, with the express direction however, that the money arising from the said sale, of either or all of the said slaves, shall be regarded as trust property, under this deed and to be kept, used or invested for the purposes and trusts

Albemarle County to wit I George Carr a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid in the State of Virginia, do certify that James F Fry whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date on the 8th day of June 1861 has acknowledged the same before me in my County aforesaid. Given under my hand this 12th day of June 1861 George Carr J P

City of Richmond, to wit: In the Office of the Court of Hustings for the said City, the 14th day of June 1861. This deed was presented, and with the certificate annexed, admitted to record at fifteen minutes past nine o'clock A.M. Teste Ro Howard, clk.
