you ever received the 1st Volume of the
Messenger which I purchased for Mr. Coit - and sent
on to your address.

You have also never told me whether
you received the money from the Mercantile
Library Association, Clinton-Hale, which I likewise
purchased at their request - and sent on
to your address. - I mean for the copy
of the 1st Volume - [underline](bound.)[/underline]

Finances, my friend, are distressingly hard
here just now. - Therefore, if you have
been able to collect any thing for me, I
must entreat you to send it on.

It is barely possible I may see you
in N. York in July or August.

I have received but one No. of your
paper in 4 weeks. If the Messenger for 2d.
on March has been noticed by you, please
let me receive papers.

Tell me when you write what Poe
is driving at - that is, if you know; - but
do not put yourself out to gratify
perhaps an idle curiosity. I have not heard
from him since he left here.

Present my best respects to your wife,
and receive for yourself my friendship.

Truly yours
T. W. White.
