My dearest Thomas,

It is now 11:30 but I writing you anyway. I have just finished work for the day. We have almost 1000 bags of mail on hand to work that we have been bringing in all day. We haven't got an exact count yet but it might even run over that. So you see we have plenty to do now and will have for several days. If mail keeps comming like it is now looks like we will need more help.

One of the boys brought me a note from a soldier he met on liberty. It is from Willis Hinton guess that is one of pell Hinton brothers. Said he was going to try to see me. I always like to see the boys from home.

Now to start answering your letters that I received yesterday. The first line in the esrliest letter is a question so I will start right of by saying we have chair and benches now. I have a straight chair for my desk and the cushion fits it fine. I sure do enjoy using it.

Well, I glad Conrad has found the girl for him. I tickled to death but afraid she wont like a small town. Now find out about that when you see him and let me know. I think it would be nice to have them for neighbors when I get back.

It looks as if the war is helping some people get married (E.C.) Guess there will be big doings with Nell and Eugenia getting married. I can Mrs. Riddick and Mrs Cowper now but they are in a figget. More marriages and more babies and more deaths it will seem like a strange town to me I'm sure.

See you can still play bridge. I will have to learn all over again. I haven't played a game since I've been here. Hearts is our big game.

I feel sorry for Francis, poor girl doubt if she wer get married. If some boy meets her and don't find out about her heart, that her only chance. It's ba to have to be like that isn't it. She's such a fine girl too.

Don't worry about me being moved for if I ever am I will let you know. I'm still at the same place and expect to be for some time. If I even get back to the states I'll let you know in a hurry. My address is still 142 so that means I in the same plac.

Don't let the waves worry you. I would like to see them trying to do our work. It's true they could do part of it but they couldn't do much of it here. Guess they can work them in the States but its a lot different here. I will still stay in the mail service for thats my rate and they don't take that away from you unless you can't hold it. Sometimes boys get rates that they can't qualify for they might get changed but I'm not like that.

Thought I would write a long letter but just can't make it. I'm getting so sleepy now and its so quiet all the boys are in bed. Will try a long letter another night.

This before closing I run up with a woac on the street yesterday and talked to her about two hours the first American girl she talked with in a year. I might say the first girl she talked with in a year except across a counter trying to buy something.

I miss you and love you so much, Harry

My dearest Thomas,

Today has been just about the best day I've had since being in Africa. It's true that we have had a big days work, but who minds a hard days work when you can find a nice picture of your darling little wife while doing it.

Darling I'm so proud of the picture. The other one was good but it doesn't have the life like likeness that this one has. I can just see you like you used to be just before breaking into a smile. I like your hair the way it is. I thing the frame is beutiful glad you god the red folder that makes it much mor real. How could i have the real image of you with something red about it. When I look at your picture now all i see is you and that's all I want to see. I've already had many compliments on it and of course that tickles me to death. I have the picture on my stamp cabinet wich sit on one corner of my desk. Everyone that come in to room has to see it for theu can't help it. I love to say yes, thats my wife you can't imagine how proud it makes

me feel to say these few words. Darling you are so pretty and fine that I just love you intentlly to much to be so far away from you.

At times loving you so much make it some what difficult to keep smiling and happy appering. Even though it does I wouldn't want to have you any the less. I'm so proud of you and know just how much love me in return.

I received five packages today. They were from Phillip & Liggie, Kirk & Cornell, Henry & Katie and two from you. Plenty of Christmas mail wasn't it! In the Dawes box was two boxes of nice candy, cigaretts, 5 nice hankerchiefs, chewing gum and a jup game. Henry & Katie was salted peanuts they were just as freak as you buy them in the stores. Kirk and Cornella was toilet soap make up for service men. Yours were the picture and fruit cake. I just opened them all havent tried any of them yet.

I appriciate the package so much and will write all of them in a few days. I will try to get all my letters cought up before Christmas
