From Baltimore to River la Plate August 1859 Remarks August 3d 1859.

at 4 P.M. left the pilot. Cape Henry bearing West 3 miles. pleasant weather Middle pleasant fresh breezes passing clouds. All sail set. Latter part the same.

August 4th 1859. All this day fresh winds & passing clouds. All sail set. Crossed the Gulf Stream smooth water Gulf weed.

5th All this day fresh winds & plasant [PLEASANT] weather. All sail set. Plenty Gulf weed & flying Fish. Birds etc [ECETERA] nothing Remarkable

6th all this day fresh winds & pleasant weather. Gulf weed. All sail set. Going a flying following Maurys [MAURY'S] Directions. nothing Remarkable this day. Flying Fish

7th August 1859 all this day plasant [PLEASANT] breezes from the S.S.W. & plasant [PLEASANT]. All sail set. Gillph [GULF] weed around. few Fish no Birds. fine breeze as I can expect for the season Nothing Remarkable occured [OCCURRED].

8th August 1859. All this day light breezes from the S.S.W. & pleasant sea smooth. All sail set by the wind. Gelph [GULF] weed no fish no Birds. Getting alonong [ALONG] finely. the Barometer has not varied at 40th since leaving. I am now verry [VERY] near Lieut [LIERTENANT] Maurys [MAURY'S] track. Try to hit it. Experienced no currents since crossing the Stream.

9th August First part light airs from the S.S.W. & pleasant Middle calm. Latter part wind SSW. SW light airs & pleasant smooth sea all sail set by the wind this day current 20 E.N.E. less weed than a few days past

10th August all this day light airs & calm airs from ESE to SE. Mostly calm. Little or no weed. The weather fine. Prospect look dark

11th August all this day calm. Occationally [OCCASIONALLY] a light air from South. The Barrometer [BAROMETER] keeps steady. It varies not at all. The most singular weather I ever saw in these Lattitudes. The last 24 hours current SSW 10 miles
