took one to the ship and cut him.
In midle [MIDDLE] part clearing decks. Latter
a daylight started fires.4 sails
insight. So ends 00 16 N [NORTH] 179 13 E [EAST]

Wedns [WEDNESDAY]
Sep [SEPTEMBER] 8th
First part light winds. Ship stear [STEERING]
N. West aboiling. At 6 P.M spoke
Mohawk the [THEN] steard [STEERED] to south. Midle [MIDDLE]
part the same. Latter part finished
boiling at daylight. At 9 A.M saw
sperm whales. Lored [LOWERED] the boats and
took one to the ship about noon.

Stearing to south with one whale
alongside but no no more. Three
sails insight. Mohawk chaising [CHASING]
whales. Midle [MIDDLE] part stearing north + tacked
by the wind. Latter part cut the whale.
In comenced [COMMENCED] boiling 00 12 S [SOUTH 179 00

Sep [SEPTEMBER] 10th
First part ship stearing to south. A
boiling. Saw a sail. Midle [MIDDLE] part squally
weather. Cooled down the works. Latter
part started fires again. Finished
boiling at noon. Saw three sails

Satur [SATURDAY]
Sep [SEPTEMBER] 11th
First part light winds. Saw 4 sails.
Stearing to north. At 4 P.M spoke
ship Mohawk a boiling snall whale.
25 bbls. So we devided [DIVIDED] oil. Two whales
to our ship one to her. Discharged
14 bbls onboard ship Mohawk from
the E. Cary. Midle [MIDDLE] part the same. Latter
saw [OBSCURED] sails. Emploid weting [WETTING] hole 00 36 North 179 15
