My estimates for next year are as follows

Salary of President $1700.00
Four Professors 4800.00
Principal of Preparatory Department 1,000.00
Instructor of German and French 600.00
Janitor 300.00
Aud and Secr 100.00
Treasurer 500.00
Incidentals 200.00
9200.00

This makes no provision for tutor, for music, nor for
writing and drawing, nor asst. janitor. Some of this ought to
be paid from the college funds, if not all. Then too a considerable
sum will be needed for advertising, and this I expect to manage
on a somewhat different plan from that heretofore adopted. I
should like also to be allowed to pay from the College treasury
the actual expenses of Professors out on College business.
Perhaps all this could be got inside of $1,000, which is I think
less than the estimate for last year, tho I believe we got thro
with a good deal less than the estimates.
The following is my proposed budget for the Normal Dept
Salary of Principal $1500.00
Teacher of Elocution +c 600.00
Teacher of methods 500.00
" {illegible} 500.00
Teacher of Penmanship and book keeping 200.00
" " Music 150.00
Advertising 100.00
3,550.00
A Young Lady who is a graduate of the Commercial College at
Delaware attended here last spring, and is anxious to
continue her course here. I should like to give her a
trial, and am in hopes that she will {illegible} our
purpose as teacher of penmanship and book keeping. The writing
was well taught by Miss Welch, but the time she could
give us was too limited. I made great efforts to have
music (vocal) taught this year. We need it very much. Prof
C.C. Case of Cleveland promised to spend a month with us sometime
during the year to get us well started, unfortunately he got sick and
could not come, but promises to come next fall if we want him. I gave
some dozen or twenty lessons as a preparation for his coming, and
tho it did not result as I intended we have at least made a beginning.
I hope I do not think we ought to be particularly sparing of the
money for out Normal department. We cannot expect to do what
never yet has been done, run a normal school worth calling
by the name on a few thousand dollars a year.
