[1] To [2] Emanuel Margoty Esq -[3] Captain of the Honble Companys Frigate Bombay [4] Sir [5] A Europe Packet having this Instant arrived on board of Aga Mahomed [6] Nebies Boat _ & bound for Bombay [7] Thinking it unsafe to entrust it in charge of the Noquada alone [8] I have to request that you will order a Volounteer, with a sufficient Guard of Seapoys to be [9] in readiness to proceed on board Her, for to take charge of the Packet as well as to protect [10] the Boat _ She having been allready attacked & plundered on Her passage here by the [11] Graine Arabs _ Two treasons were killed besides 3 or 4 wounded _ [12] A letter addressed to you from the Resident at [13] Bussorah was also taken in the Noquada's trunk by these free booters _ [14] The Boat will leave [15] this at the furthest in three days for the Residency _ they are now replenishing the articles [16] plundered from them, such as Sails, Ropes, Provisions &c. [17] I am Sir [18] Your Most Obedt-- Hble Servt-[19] Sign'd Nawab Mirza Mehedy Ally Khawn [20] Resident [21] True Copy Wm Bruce [22] Asst_ [23] Bushire 12th -- Dec -[24] 1801 [25] To [26] Emanuel Margoty Esq -- [27] Captn-- of the Honable Companys Frigate Bombay [28] Sir [29] I acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this days date, wherein you mention [30] of your being ready to sail at 3 hours notice _ [31] As the Bombay is put under the ordes of the Persian [32] Embassador by the Honble Governor Council of Bombay, It does not lay in my power [33] to take Her from those orders, As He wrold of course object to it & write to Government about my [34] having taken such steps __ [35] Mr [Manesty?] has wrote Me, that if the Embassador wants the services [36] of your Ship, to forward the Packet of the same boat that brought it here _ Also the [37] Embassador has wrote me officially that the Frigate to proceed to the Residency [38] in Company with His own Ship _ I leave it now to yourself & whatever you think is best [39] to be done for the Public Service I beg of you to inform me & by which means I shall be better [40] able to judge _ I am perfectly well acquainted that it will be sometime before the Embassador [41] will be ready to proceed _ & also the Boat having once been plundered, I am afraid She may [42] perhaps be done so again, & the Packet by that means lost or detain'd long time _ [43] But as Mr [Manesty?] has [44] [?] that I should forward it in this Boat, I of course shall comply _ I write you this that [45] you may not be induced to act rashly, but to do that which you think will be best for the [46] Public Service & which I shall be extremely happy to assist you in. (3) Commander of the Honble Companys (4) Brig Ternate (5) Sir (6) A Europe Packet having arrived here Yesterday per Dow, of the Uttmost (7) Consequence to Our Government in India, & which contains most interesting Political (8) advices from the Honble Secret Committee, I have to request your will hold the Vessel under (9) your Command in readiness to proceed to Bombay in the course of 24 hours or sooner (10) if possible (11) Any Packets entrusted to your care by the Honble the President in Council from (11) India; either for this place or Bussorah, you will please to land here, or any thing else (12) You may have on Board for Bussorah Factory (13) Whatever supplies you may require for (14) the use of your Vessel, I have given direction to send them on board without delay to (15) expedite Your early departure (16) I have the honor to be (17) Sir (18) Your Most Obedt. (23) To (24) Samuel Manesty Esq. (25) Honble Companys Resident (26) At Bussorah (27) Sir (28) I received the Europe Packet You sent on board Aga Mahomed Nebies Dow on (29) the 23rd. Inst. _ You did not by that conveyance write Me; But however agreeable (30) to Your directions written to Mahemed Nebie; I shall forward the Packet this day at (31) Noon on board the Honble Comp[s] Brig Ternate; which arrived in these Roads Yesterday (32) The Packets brought by her I send per Ship Duncan in charge of Mr Day who goes (33) Passenger in Her _ (34) Had the Ternate not arrived I should have forwarded the Packet to _ (35) Muscat on board the Bombay; as I could not procure any Boat or Dow to proceed to (36) the Presidency without touching at Muscat (37) I Have the honor to be (38) Sir (39) Your Most Obed. [5] If you are acquainted with the Numbers of the different Bales that was [6] Unfortunately damaged on Board Your Ship; & know the Number that was sent to [7] Bussorah by mistake belonging to the Duncan; I will thank you to let me know _ [8] that is if you wish to have those that are here belonging to your Ship in their room [9] They are all ready for sending on Board, but as the price of the articles are both [10] the same I should suppose it could make no manner of difference; & indeed I asked Aga [11] Mahomed Nibie if it would; He said by no means _ [12] I have wrote to Mr Manesty about it; but if you wish [13] to have those that are here I will send them on board [14] Will you be good enough to send [15] per Boat the Chest or Bac of Sugar belonging to me _ wishing you health & and a speedy passage [16] I remain Sir [17] Your Most Obedt Hble Servt.
