Sir,
[7] 1 I am directed by the Honble-
[8] the Governor in Council to transmit to you an Extract
[9] being the 2d. Paragraph of a letter from the Honble Cour
[10] dated the 1st June, and to acquaint you that the Clothes,
[11] imported from England are conformably to the Musters
[12] that accompanied your letter dated the 19th- of June 1806
[13] and copy of a descriptive List of the Woolens received
[14] 2 I am directed on this occasion
[15] to require your opinion, as to the prospect you enter=
[16] =tain of meeting with an immediate, and secure vend
[17] for the goods in question, if the Board should deem it
[18] advisable to consign them, either wholly or in part ; to
[19] you ; and whether these consignments should be conti=
[20] =nued in future -; as the Honble- the Governor in Coun=
[21] =cil feels rather inclined, in the present state of our rela
[22] =tions with Persia, to dispose of the goods to the Per=
[23] =sian Merchants at this Settlement , in preference to
[24] running the risk of sending them to Bushire, or to keep
[25] them, under the expectation of affairs in that quarter
[26] taking a more favorable turn ; which, however proba
[27] =ble, there is no such assurance of, as to justify a
[28] posteponement of the vend of these Fabrics, on rea=
[29] =sonable terms ; they will not, therefore, be forwarded
[30] to you except on a failure in obtaining a favorable
[31] sale here.
