June 1, 1863 - June 13, 1863

1863 June 1st. Replanted Sugar Kane finished weeding down
our Sweet Potatoes. replanted 4 rows by oats corn
weed out first planting [Bas?] & Sugar Kane

2nd Replanting corn on creek I went to Plantation
Sent Smith to shop to get Horses shod & 1 colter p[a]inted, ¬

3rd I have been up to see Ann to day who
died last night Plowing & weeding corn to day

4th Plowing & weeding corn —

5th. Shearing sheep to day Sent Henry
to aspen Grove to help, cloudy & like for rain
Mr. Neale was carried off this morning
Fine rain replanting Tobacco here this evening

6th Replanting Tobacco. Plowing & weeding corn

8 Plowing & weeding corn stayed at home
yesterday, very cool this morning –
replanting some Corn to day — Cool enough for frost

9th Weighed out Bacon for Big Henry son Henry
claiborne Smith & Kitty 39 lbs for Henrys gang
& 8 or 9 lbs for Kitty - to last till 9th. July next -
working out Cotton Potatoes etc etc here this morning

June 10th 1863 Sent Jerry to the Army by Mr Jno
D Glenn 1 pr Boots 1 shirt 2 pr socks and 1 pr Bottle
Brandy for Mr Glenn Jerry & Harvey the Brandy& sent some
pound cake in the Boots.

11th. Coltering & Hilling in new ground yesterday & to
day like for Rain, ground in fine order to Hill at new ground

12th. Finished yesterday Hilling new ground & began to
Plow corn on Creek & this day began to weed down there
one of our cows had a Calf in woods Pasture next to Mr Keens
& young White & Red cow no Horn had one about 3 weeks
ago being 3 Young Calves in all here

13th. Little sow has got or host her pigs. Plowing & weeding
corn on Creek. Sent Smith to Mill this morning after
Turns meals there ground, Sent ½ Bus. for Mrs Neal
