Dear Mother,

Life is rosy. I sent down to the machine
shop yesterday to see if I could get my old
job back but business was so slow that nobody
had even bothered to come to work
so as of now, I'm just a baby-sitter. This
was a 3 band-aid day at the Singleton's.
Pam stepped on a rose bush & bled just
enough to scare herself silly & then a little
while later her brother overturned his
sand pail on the living-room floor, &
when I found him he was having a ball.
Ages 3 1/2 yrs. & 18 mo. respectively. I've sat
for them every week since last summer & it's
a ball. Pam later fell off her tricycle &
[racked?] up a skinned knee. I spent this morning
sitting by the pool. The 8 yr. old son of
some friends of mine called up to see if I
was home, so his dad brought him up to
go swimming in the pool.

It's usually a fine apartment. The boys
left it in a terrific mess, just plain cruddy.
I spent the first two days mopping & scrubbing
with soapy water, switched to Dutch Cleaner,
but Brillo Pads really did the job. Ann,
the girl who's staying with me, swept out the
living-room, so now the place is in great
shape. I even re-arranged the living-room
