Gentlemen
In obedience to your favour of the 1st March
last have shipped for your account on Board the Brilliant Capt Bennet for Virginia Goods as pr Invoice here with sent. In Accounting to £558,,5,,7 which wish Safe to hand & hope will please. have kept as near to your Scheme as possible there is not any herring non pickled Salmon to be got here at this time nor could [?]ling your Bear on Reasonable terms such a small Quantity they would not allow the [D?] [?] for Glass or Beer your Goods one sent to the Care of Mr Edward Strebler Petersburg. some days ago I recieved a letter from said Mr Strebler of the 19th May covering Messrs. Andrew & Richd Mackees Drafts on Messrs. [Curning?] McKinzie & Co value £100 ~ said Bill is noted for none acceptance these Gentlemen [?] affect but if Remittance come by the tiem it falls Due the Bill will be paid when it shall be placed to your Credit. Mr. Strebler writes me that he had purchased another Bill £83,,6,,8 which will be sent me by next [?]

I am much obliged for your [?] Good payment particularly at thsi time as money is Extremely Scarce owing to the many failures at London & Some in this town. The funds in this place has not been in such Distress these hundred years past. I have found myself obliged to [Decline?] Serving Severall very Good Gentlemen not [punctual?] Remittance our merchants must now be paid when Goods fall Due and when obliged to advance the moeny for any of my friends Suffermore than all my commission [?sed] is your account Currt Ballance carried now amount £115,,7,,2 which hope you will find Right. I am Informed that the Judges on your provence have lately charged Jurys not to allow Interest on Accounts for which Reason have Declined Shipping Goods on Commission for North Carolina I refer you to the [?] from Mr. John Alston Junr and myself who I have admitted partner Being myself on the [decline?] of life mean time I am
