the sum of $16,000 for the purposes therein mentioned" which was read a
first time.

A meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the City of Kingston was held
this day. Present,
His Worship the Mayor
Aldermen
Allen, Behan, Carson, Curtis, Donnelly, Drennan, Martin,
Milne, Minnes, Newlands, Redden, Robinson, Skinner,
Stewart, Strainge, Tait, Walkem.

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting.

A Deputation from the Kingston General Hospital asking for an increased
Grant to the Charity.

Principal Grant, Dr. Walkem and Mr. B. M. Britton addressed by the Council
on the subject.

The Mayor stated [inserted] it [/inserted] would be taken into consideration by the Council.

Communications summarized by the Clerk were read and referred as
follows: -

From Secretary Executive Committee Toronto acknowledging receipt of
petition Re trails by Judge and stating it was not approved of. - Referred to
Finance.

From D.P. Branagan - Taxes. - Referred to Court of Revision.

From John Blevins City Clerk Toronto asking the Corporation of the
Council to obtain legislation to enable Municipalities to enjoy the right to establish
Municipal Fire Insurance Bureaus. - Referred to the Committee on Finance.

From F.C. Ireland, City Treasurer stating amount of fees received
from number one Market $1378.35. - Referred to Committee on Finance.

From George Thompson, Collector of Taxes stating Taxes collected to date.
- Referred to Finance.

From Ira A. Breck President objecting to taxation on Personal
Property of the Electric Railway. - Referred to the Court of Revision.

Ald: Behan from the Committee on Finance and accounts brought
Reports (Number 19 and 20 Book H.) which were read and adopted.

On motion of Ald: Martin seconded by Ald Donnelly.

Ordered, That the report of the Finance Committee be reconsidered.

On motion of Ald: Robinson seconded by Ald: Martin.

Ordered, That the report of the Finance Committee be amended by
granting $250 to the Fire, Water and Light Committee to purchase a team of
Horses.

The Chairman from the Board of Works brought up Report (Number
21 Book H.) and submitted Reports of City Engineer Bolger with Estimates
of
