March 24th were read and approved.

The report of the Committee on class tickets was read and adopted.

[margin] hood of B.Sc. [/margin]

The report of the Committee on the costume for the degree of B.Sc. was adopted and in accordance with it the Senate resolved that the hood for Bachelor of Science shall be black, lined with light blue and bordered with white.

[margin] programme of University examination [/margin]

In accordance with the report of the Committee the Senate adopted the following programme of the ensuing examinations:

The hours of examination to be from 10 to 12 A.M. and from 3 to 5 P.M. upon each day as indicated above.

It was agreed that the papers for the ensuing honour examinations be printed.

[margin] theological scholarships [/margin]

1. To students of the first year four scholarships shall be offered payable out of the grant for scholarships by the Colonial Committee of the Church of Scotland under the name of Church of Scotland scholarships, and of the several amounts of $70, $60, $50 and $50 according to the order of merit, subject to the regulation on page 27 of the Calendar for the present session.

2. To students of the second year scholarship of the same number and amount as to those of the first year will be offered.

[margin] regulations for B.D. [/margin]

In accordance with the report of the Committee the Senate adopted the following regulations anent the degree of B.Divinity.

1. Candidates for the degree of Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) must be graduates in Arts of this University or of a University whose degrees are recognized for this purpose by the Senate.

2. The degree shall not be conferred until the candidate has completed his Theological curriculum with a view to the ministry in the Church to which he belongs, and has passed a satisfac[tory]

tory examination in the branches of theology taught in this University.

3. The subjects of examination shall be in two departments, the first embracing (1) Hebrew and (2) the Evidences of Christianity and the Inspiration of Scripture, and the second embracing (1) Church History (2) Systematic Theology and (3) Biblical Criticism.

4. Candidates who have completed their Theological course may be examined in either of these departments, and may defer their examination in the other department, provided there be not a greater interval than two years between their two examinations.

5. Students who have completed all the sessions but one of their Theological courses may be admitted to examination in the first department.

6. A candidate may subject to the preceding regulations appear at any University examination in Theology, provided he give two weeks' notice of his intention to the Registrar.

7. When a student, being a candidate for the degree, shall obtain at a pass examintion on any subject two thirds of the marks allotted to the subject he may on recommendation of the Examiner be exempted from further examination on that subject.

Queen's University April 3d 1877 The Senate met and was constituted. Sederunt Principal Snodgrass, Professors Williamson, Mowat, Mackerras, Dupruis, Ferguson and Watson. The minutes of the last meeting held March 30th were read and approved. In compliance with a request of the Science class it was agreed to change the day of the University examination in natural science from the 18th to the [ ] In compliance with an application from James [Goode] it was agreed to sustain as sufficient his attendance at the classes he has taken this session and also his attendance in Honour Greek and Senior Greek classes last session. The Senate resumed its consideration of the letter received from the Reigstrar of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, and resolved as follows: 1. That the Senate regrets to learn that in the opinion of the Faculty of the Royal College there has not been for some time a cordial feeling between the senate and the Faculty; is not conscious of any want of good feeling on its part towards the Faculty of the Royal College; and [] the Facultyof its desire to maintain such good feeling 2. That as regards to the subjects of the communications addressed by the Secretary of the Senate to the Registrar of the Royal College of date March 24th the Senate is

prepared to have a conference with the Faculty of the Royal College at such convenient time as may be arranged by the Secretary of the Senate and the Registrar of the Royal College. 3. That in respect of other subjects referred to by the Registrary of the Royal College and his letter of date March 29th as subjects on which misunderstandings may possibly exist the Senate does not know what they are, and in order that the conduct and results of a conference on any such subjects may be satisfactory the Senated desired to be in possession of a specific statement of them before they be admitted as [anothers} of conference.
