examinations as follows: W.H Irvine first class in mathematics and natural philosophy: Arch. A. Mackenzie first class in Logic, Metaphysics and Ethics, and in History, Rhetoric and English Literataure.

[margin] scholarship in Arts [/margin]

It was found that the Arts scholarships had been gained as follows: Church (1) $70 Junior classics, McIntosh with honour of Glass Memorial Church (2) $70 Rhetoric and English Literature. McCannel Church (3) $70 Logic & Metaphysics, Ross with honour of Toronto Glass memorial $35 Junior mathematics H.H. McMillan St. Andrews $50 Ethics, Mackenzie Toronto $60 Natural Philosophy, Cumberland Buchan $100 Natural Philosophy, ethics chemistry, rhetoric & English Literature Acts of Apostles, Alex. McKillop with honour of Church Hardy memorial $50 chemistry Matthew McKay Kingston $35, French, J.V. Anglin Montreal $50 session mathematics, Finlay M. Maclennan Reekie $50: natural science, D.A. It was found that the scholarships in Theology had been gained as follows: Church of Scotland (1) $70 - A.H. Scott Church of Scotland (2) $70 - J. Ferguson Church of Scotland (3) $60 - H. Cameron

[margin] Geo. McMillan [/margin]

In compliance with an application from George McMillan who had been prevented by illness from attending the University examination in Inspiration of scripture and Systematic Theology, the Senate agreed to allow him to be examined in these subjects in November.

[margin] subject of essay [/margin]

It was agreed that the subject of the essay for the prize offered by D.B. Maclennan M.A. shall be: The nature and influence of the Philosophy of Descartes.

Sederunt Principal Snodgrass, Professors Williamson, Mowat, Dupuis, Ferguson and Watson.

The minutes of last meeting held yesterday were read and sustained.

The Senate having examined in all the subjects necessary for the degree of B.A. the following candidates named in alphabetical order viz. James Cumberland, Francis

Arthur Drummond, Henry Macpherson Dyckman, John Hamilton, William Henderson Irvine, John Reeve Lavell, Henry Lunam, Charles McDowell, Archibald Alison Mackenzie, Alexander McKillop, Lewis William Shannon, John Strange, Joseph Francis White, and Thomas Wilson, and having sustained their University examinations in all these subjects, resolved to confer and hereby do confer upon each of the fourteen above named undergraduates the degree of Bachelor of Arts.

The Senate having found that Archibald Alison Mackenzie had obtained first class honours in logic metaphysics and ethics, in Latin and Greek, and in history, rhetoric and English literature, and had thus fulfilled the conditions required for the degree of B.Sc. resolved to confer and hereby do confer upon him the said degree of Bachelor of Science.

The Senate having sustained the Thesis of Josiah Jones Bell B.A. reoslved to confer and herby do confer upon him the degree of Master of Arts.

The Senate having heard the report of the Examiners in Medicine and having had the necessary certificates produced, resolved to record and hereby do record that the following

undergraduates in Medicine named in alphabetical order have passed their primary examination in Medicine viz. Thomas W. Beeman, Selby: George Cline, Wellington Hugh A. Craig, N. Gower Henry A. Evans, Kingston Wm. B. Kennedy, Pembroke P. U. Kidd, Warsaw Dennis P. Lynch, Allumettte S. James Macarthur, Ailsa Craig

Of these gentlemen, Messrs Kennedy, Clinton and Lynch having obtained ninety per cent of the marks in three subjects at the written exaimations were exempeted from an oral examination.

The Senate having found the production of certificates by the following medical undergraduates named in alphabetical order viz.

George Henry Bowen, Kingston Jonathan Day, Port Hope Thomas H. Dumble, Kingston Edward Michael Higgins, Ottawa Fred. Scovil Leroy Holmes, Farmersville Andrew B. Hourigan, Peterboro Henry Alva Macdonnell Hubbs, Northumberland Co. Eugene C. McNichol, Norwood Lyndsay Flagg Millar, Kingston Daniel Phelan, N. Gower and Simmons S.S. Scovill, Portland
