The School of Pedagogy (Faculty of Education) was taking
shape so well, that the Finance and Estates Committee
was asked, in association with any other member, or
members, of the Board, to consiter the appointment of a
Dean, and to arrange for lectures on method, subject to
ratification by the Board. The Committee was likewise
asked to keep an eye on the growing interests of the
"Women's Residence".
That the Board, as a whold, might be well informed,
certain purchases of land contiguous to University
property, and certain large investments of University
money, yielding good revenue, were reported in detail
by the Finance Committee.
The full statement will be found on pages 275-76, Board
Minutes, 1875-1912. Also of substantial additions made
to the salararies of the senior professors in Arts and
Theology.
The Chair of Physics, which was vacated the past year
by the resignation of Professor Marshall, was filled
by the appointment of Mr. A. L. Clark, Ph.D., of Bates
College, U.S.A., who came with high recommendations,
like the others of recent choice.
