13 Thursday At Kingscote. Got meat ½ sheep 39 lbs 1-4-0. Dozen [illegible text] 4-. Sundries oatmeal 5-. Sundries 1-10 = 1- 14-10. Crew variously employed. 14 Friday 9 am Left towards American River. Fresh NW gale. Visited M Hawker yacht & found all covered. Earny oil engines & finish up sundries [illegible text] One and all. M Hawker clothes to be washed. Got fishing lines. Got water. Bar started to rise 29-95. Wind NNW & showery. 15 Saturday In American River at the mouth. Blowing hard gale. NNW Bar 30-00. Heavy rains. Bar started to rise. 16 Sunday Bar 30-15 at 5 am 7 am Got under weight towards Wardang. Got water & two sheep. Paid Thomas 2-10. Light airs & calm. Beating reefs near Kingscote Bay at 5 pm. Made several tacks. Bar started to fall sun. Back at 10 pm from Point Marsden. Bar 30-05.

17 Monday 12.30 am anchored near Ballast head in 3 fathams. Mainsail started to tear. 9 am all hands at Ballast & one hand repairing mainsail & 2 hands boating off. Bar at 2 pm 29-78. Hard gale NW 5//2 boatloads before dinner. 18 Tuesday At American River. Wind bound. Left towards Wardang returned to Point Marsden. Crew variously employed. Bar 29-95. All the crew //2 tobacco each. John all sorts 1 lb tobacco. Johnston 1 tobacco. Dunbar //2 tobacco. 19 Wednesday Shifted to Point Marsden. Fresh WSW. Bar 30-00. Caught dozen whiting.

20 Thursday 9 am returned back to Ballast head. Heavy [illegible text]swell. Fresh NW. At noon Barr 30-15. Got bacon WW Hughes 34 lb one shilling per pound 1 14 1 tin baking powder 2 2 = £1 16 6. Sent cheque 1-16-6 & visited yacht & put dinghy on shore. Fresh WNW & squally at intervals. At American River. From Ballast head. 21 Friday Got under weight towards Wardang. Light WSW. Bar 30-27 at 10.30 am. Passed Point Marsden 3 pm. Passed Emu Bay & Cape Cassini at midnight. 8 am 22 Saturday 8 am Near Western River tacked several times. Fresh NW to WSW wind shifting & very cloudy. Bar 30-30 at 3 pm. Inclined to fall. Tacked in to Marion Bay. 7 pm passed inside Little Althorpes. Light NW to north. Made several tacks all night. Bar 30-30 & clear. 23 Sunday Tacking all day. Fresh NW. Bar falling. Bar at 2 pm 30-25. 10 pm stop Wedge Island. Hard squalls. WSW Bar 30-30.

24 Monday At Wedge Island. Blowing hard gale WNW. Landed Earny & got two sheep. Price 10 shillings each hight sece £1-0-0. Running. Bar 30-30 cloudy. 25 Tuesday At Wedge Island. Took off 1 tank 2 [illegible text] 1 jar two camp ovens & cargo boat two oars & rollocks. Made all well fast ready for sea. Bar steady 30-30. Wind west & shifting. Got about 20 gallons water. Fresh SW squally. Bar 30-30. Hoved up dingy & all ready to sail when weather fine. Owe Golly for two sheep. Weight on ship 46 lb. 26 Wednesday 2.30 am Got under weight towards Wardang Island. Fine light SW to WSW & fine. Bar 30-35. Light NW at 5 pm. Repair mainsail & sundry jobs. Light NNE at 10 pm. Made several tacks. Bar steady 30-40.

27 Thursday 9 am visited Investigator to [illegible text] to do any work. Bar started to fall past 30-35 at 2 pm. Bar 30-25 2 pm. Bar 30-20. Fresh NNE went on shore & picked up several casks & some sundry wood. Blowing hard gale. 28 Friday 7 am shifted around to East side for shelter. Fresh gale WNW to NW Bar falling fast 30-15 at noon Crew variously employed. 29 Saturday 9.30 am went for water & got stores from store at north end of Wardang Island. Paid off Oscar Nelson wages 7 pounds 21 days. Fresh gale north to west. 30 Sunday At Wardang Island windbound. Fresh gale WNW. All hands on shore. Oscar Nelson went away from ketch. Got work at Wardang.
