JS at Morphate Race Course & saw Mr. Hawker. Mr. Hawker not well went to hospital. Woollatt cash cheque for £3-0-0 in return. Glen got one pound cash. £1-0-0

Fine light & variables. Bar 30-50.

12 Monday

JS to town & the races at Morphatt Vale. Holiday.

13 Tuesday

JS to Adelaide with fish for Mrs Hawker. Received cheque from Mr. Hawker £5-0-0. Paid Leonard Sheridan balance wages two £ pounds on account Mr. Hawker.

14 Wednesday

Got Portonian taken in tow to Fletcher’s slip. Launch Florrie from tug comp slip. 5 pm grounded 7 pm visited & found all safe. Calm & light airs Se. Bar 30-50. Received telegram from [illegible text].

15 Thursday

Got 2 tins paint 17 shillings each 1-14-0. At Mr Russell sailmaker. At Fletcher Beach. Painting Portonian port side.

16 Friday

JS to town fish RM Hawker paid 3-0. Finish painting Portonian. Got Launch Florrie towed from Fletcher slip to tug comp slip on wharf. JS paid for large [illegible text] for cleaning guano Mr. Rutherford. Cheque £4-5-10. Carriage 2/6.

17 Saturday Fixing moorings for Mr Benny 7/6 chain 2 hands five shillings. A & L Sheridan 5-0 5-0 7-6 7-6 Fine light ESE Bar 30-60.

19 Monday

Bar 30-45. All stores on board ready for sea.

20 Tuesday

Engage two hands one hand started work at 10 am on Portonian at 10 pounds per month. Paid up Marine Board & Customs & sundry account. One sailor engage at 10 pounds per month one pound extra.

21 Wednesday

8 am Portonian left tug comp wharf for guano. Launch Surprise shifted Portonian away ½ mile.
