St Valentine Day We were up before
sunrise this morning in expectation
& we witness an Eastern sunrise It was
beautiful At last land was seen & we
gradually kept in towards it & about
7 am we dropped anchor in St Vincents
Gulf opposite the Semephore A
double funnelled steamer was
soon along side which was destine
d to take us ashore Several more
craft tugged by another doubtless
for the merchandize followed her
After breakfast our last meal
aboard the Garrone (who after all
we felt rather sorry to part with)
we boarded the Yatala (paddle
steamer) where our luggage was
