Bishops Polk and Elliott; expressing his feelings of regard

The Rt. Rev. Leonidas Polk, Savannah, Ga., to Col. Barney, re:
Announcing his arrival in Savannah on behalf of the University;
his visitations to many schools and Universities; his persuading
Bishop Hopkins to come out to Sewanee to give his aid in laying
out the grounds; announcing that he and Bishop Elliott would
arrive on the Mountain the 9th or 10th of December; mentions
the credit for the University which has satisfied his money
wants; requesting him to have the cabins ready with furniture,
etc., and a gentle horse for Bishop Hopkins. 4 pp.

appeal for aid in funds; expressing his regret that he had been
