277 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 23 1887 Be it remembered that on this 23rd day of August 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber purusuant to adjournment. The following officers are present to wit: cting Mayor J Furth and Councilmen Frink, Green, Niesz, Russell & Reitze and W R Forrest clerk. the council proceeds with the revision and equalization of the assessment roll for the year 1887. Ordered that C B Bagley be reduced on Improvements from $3600 to$3000. And on personal property from $5600 to $1000. Ordered that Schwabacher Bros & Co be reduced on personal property from $100,000 to $65,000. Ordered that Spring Hill Water Co be reduced on personal property from $63,000 to $18,000. Ordered that W T Pillman be reduced on personal property from $300 to $200. Ordered that Walter C Squire be reduced on personal property $4,000. Account debts being owed. Ordered that Frauenthal Bros be reduced on personal property (merchandise) from $17,000 to $12,000. Ordered that the application of J D McDermott for the reduction of valuation of improvements on Block 39 owned by M Keezer be tabled. Ordered that Mrs S E Malson be reduced on personal property from $2000.

Ordered that John Feigh be reduced on personal property Ordered that Geo F Dearborn be reduced on personal property $400, account mortgage wrongfully assessed. Ordered that Charles Naher be reduced on personal property from $5025 to $3000. Ordered that Margaret Harmon be reduced on personal property $13,750 account mortgages wringfully assessed against her. 279 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Aug 23 1887 call system, read and on motion granted provided the poles are put up under the direction of the Street commissioner. Petition of M McDonald to make certain alterations and repairs to that cetain building standing next to the alley on the north side of Washington Street between Commercial and South Second Streets known as Mc Donald's Exchange, read and motion granted subject to the approval of tehChief of the Fire Department. Petition of August Wolff for the return of certain license money read and referred to the Committee on Licenses and Revenue. Application of Davis & Davis for a liquor license is referred to Com on License and Revenue.. Billd Allowed The following claim against the ciyty having been duly audited and allowed by the Council is ordered paid by warrant drawn as follows: Albro Gardner, Warrant No 1453 on Madison Street Imp. Fund under Ordinance No 839...$169.87 On motion of Councilman Reitze the Street Commissioner is ordered to build a sidewalk 120 feet in length from the East Side of Third Street to the alley on the South Side of Pine Street, and the Clerk directed to withdraw his published call for bids for building said sidewalk. Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the Clerk Entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same, Frink, Green, Niesz, Russell & Reitze Against the same none.

The following officers are present, to wit: Acting Mayor J.Furth, and Councilmen Frink, Green, Moran, Niesz, Russell & Reitze and W R Forrest Clerk. The following proceedings are had to wit Petitions etc Petition of Allmond & Phillips Foundry Company for permission to remove catch from Water Street, read and motion granted Petition of Dupont & Hopkins for permission to use unoccupied land foot of Madison Street for a fish stand read & referred to Street Committee. Petition of Mrs M J Pontius, for permission to lay water pipes in 3rd, 4th, 5th, Pontius, Albert, Howard & Lincoln Street read and on motion granted. Communication from the Acting City Attorney giving his opinion on the sufficiency of the deed from the Director of the School District No 1 to the City of Seattle read and on motion laid on the table and On motion the deed is accepted and the Clerk directed to draw a warrant for the sum of $4000 in favor of the Board of Directors of School Dist No 1 for the property conveyed to wit: Lots 9 & 12 Blk 52 AA Denny's adn
