Ther. Sat. Mar. 5th, 1898 Wind

Frank Hopkins wife & two children
and his mother were here for advice
etc. for the children. Willie came. I
walked to Ashton & back before lunch.
H. has a bad headache today. Fine
weather overhead, but muddy roads.
Charley telephoned from Washington
about 3.o'clk p.m. & Willie left here to
meet him at 3.20. C Coming to "Kensington"
& will walk until W meets
him. J J Jackson came in stage and
went to Bloomfield to tea to return
here & spend the night. Kate Stabler
called, also "Old John." Charley & Willie
arrived at 7.15. After supper J J
Jackson came again. I went to the store
and P.O. again.

Ther. Sun. Mar. 6th, 1898 Wind

Clear & bright all day until
late in afternoon where it
clouded up & looks threatning
again. Edward drove to "Fairfield"
& brought Alice Peirce to dinner.
Jimmy Jackson also came to dine
with us. "Old John" came before
dinner after which Willie took Dora
Alice & Edwd to Riverside in John's
dayton & horse to the funeral.
Charley drove our surrey with J
Jackson & myself. John going in
Willie's "Jagger." The funeral was
largely attended after which we
came home. Willie taking Alice
home before coming here again
John driving Dora & Edwd home
in his dayton. Charles Jim & I coming
as we went. After supper
John took Charley to Kensington
on his way to Washington and
home. After supper Jimmy Jackson
& Willie walked over to "Glenfield"
for J's satchel which he had left
there.
