345th Dec 30/ 31

Homestone

The regular Meeting of the Home Interest
met at Homestone, Dec 30th the home of
Garland and Elizabeth Ligon, which was
the first neighborhood gathering at the new
and most attractive home of our hosts.

We were all most favorably impressed
with the comforts and convenience of the
home and thoroughly enjoyed the sumptuous
supper served therein, by a corps of
capable and sweet young girls

After the social period the meeting
was called to order and conducted by
Joe Janney - who appointed Edith W.J.
Thomas and Allan Farquhar

Hulda Janney of the Forthought
Committee made suggestions well worth
adopting and numerous queries tending
to keep all in line.

It was reposted by some one (Allan Farquhar,
no doubt) that the rain fall
this year had been a little less than 1/2 the average.

Entertainment Committee was represented
by two C.&P. Telephone men - Messrs Ranson
and Lendstown - Who gave a wonderful description
of television, showing modern development
in this line - Stations will be
in operation at five points within a year
and the system reach perfection in the
next few years - This interesting account
of the telephone and its development
brought out the statement that the first
line in Sandy Spring neighborhood was
installed and operated from Sharon
to Brooke Grove, in 1894, by cousin James
P. Stabler no doubt we presume.
