Dear Mrs Stanford-

I was so glad to see you - just for a minute this afternoon. I wanted to talk to you - but I could not detain you in such a public place. I called on you at Palo Alto yesterday tho'

I hardly expected to see you. When you feel that you would like to see me - remember that it will be my greatest pleasure to come to you.

I am coming in town so often to see my mother - that at any time I could come for an hour visit.

I cannot tell you how much I feel for you. The first time that I saw you I loved you very much. I could not keep it in and my heart aches for you in your lonliness [sic] and sorrow. I am just going to see Mrs Jarboe [Sarbol ?

who too is in great grief and trouble. It is a great strange world - one day full of sun light and then of a sudden there seems only sorrow. Until I see you again I shall remember you as I saw you to-day so very very sad - God bless and keep you is the prayer of your loving friend
