4 West 58th Street New York, Dec. 4th., 1901. My Dear Mrs. Stanford: Yours of the 25th. November, is received. I fear you have been misinformed as to the interests represented by General Hubbard, as I have his consent and that of the Crocker Estate Company to the sale of the lot in Pacific Grove, for a nominal sum. As to your interest I would consider purchasing it myself, if it can be obtained for a reasonable sum; and I beg you to name what price you think under the circumstances it is just to charge for your one fourth interest in the lot. In naming your price, I beg you will consider that I am paying for it myself, to carry out an improvement which will enure to the benefit of your interest, as well as the other interests. I note another suggestion in your letter in which you have been misinformed; that it is to be presented to parties anxious to settle in Pacific Grove to study. It is really to help an admirable institution already established, and which has established its right to existence and support. Yours very sincerely, Harriet F. Alexander
