4 West 58th Street New York, Dec. 4th., 1901. My Dear Mrs. Stanford: Yours of the 25th. November, is received. I fear you have been misinformed as to the interests represented by General Hubbard, as I have his consent and that of the Crocker Estate Company to the sale of the lot in Pacific Grove, for a nominal sum. As to your interest I would consider purchasing it myself, if it can be obtained for a reasonable sum; and I beg you to name what price you think under the circumstances it is just to charge for your one fourth interest in the lot. In naming your price, I beg you will consider that I am paying for it myself, to carry out an improvement which will enure to the benefit of your interest, as well as the other interests. I note another suggestion in your letter in which you have been misinformed; that it is to be presented to parties anxious to settle in Pacific Grove to study.
