in each boom. In Michigan the booms are made double and will not stand the surfs. On Puget Sound I have towed logs from 150 to 200 miles. Sometimes I have lost many logs in the booms being no good.

By my process of rafting logs, there will be no danger of vessels on the ocean. As they cannot break up and will stand the trip. My idea is to tow logs to San Francisco from Humboldt Bay or any where between there and Alaska. By cutting so much timber in San Francisco the slabs and sawdust would cost nothing as fuel for the manufactories. San Francisco is the supply centre for the Pacific Islands. I will give a 1/4 interest in the patent for $5000. The money to be used in experimenting with a small raft, to be tried in the ocean surf to prove its value. The money to be deposited in the hands of Judge Stott of Portland Oregon. Will place with him a model for your inspection

Refer you to Judge R. stott and H. A Hogue of Portland as to my ability. For particulars write Judge R. Stott.

I can prove to you that by cutting the timber in San Francisco, the lumber will bring $2.00 per In. more than any where else on the coast. My idea is first to tow enough logs to supply the Factories and flouring mills, and not interfere with the lumber trade or cut prices.

Please return this letter to me within 30 days from date.

Yours Respectfully John Cyr
