Dear Madam I have the Boon & Callaway Clock, the oldest in the [cuntry[, in fine shape keeps good time, [teles[ the full & change of the moon, the day of the month, is a fine [peas[ of furniture, [Mahognia[ wood reverses. in [Bisness[ I am not able to keep such a fine [peas[ of furniture. Helen Gould is [figuen] to buy it [seing] your gift of $30,000,000 I thought you might buy it and help me save my home.

& my dear wife. To see our dear little ones want what we are often unable to get for them, though costing so little & yet beyond our reach is hard to bear.

I have good business abilities & am thankful to say my health is better & I hope to soon be strong again, but I need a helping hand to start again & I trust you will extend your generosity even this far & give us this help for the sake of our little ones.

Our plans are to emigrate to Tasmania, if we can only get money for that purpose, where our boys & girls will have a far healthier climate (one or two are far from strong) & where their chances of starting well will be far greater than in this overcrowded country.

Dear Madam I ask your forgiveness in bringing my troubles before you, but it will bring down blessings on your head from me & mine if you tender us the help we need
