My dear Mrs Stanford

I have carefully examined the foundation deed, and am com pelled to conclude that you have no power to displace Dr Taylor as a trustee. It can be done by a court but only for some serious cause which his conduct so far would not be deemed to justify. On reflection it seems to me best to wait a little before moving further in the hope that he may recover his sense & see what a blunder he is committing and meantime I am trying to find whether he has not some friend or confidant who will give him sound advice for his own sake. I will call on you before the close of the week, and report future
