Geo. H. Gray
Attorney at Law

28 Jacobson Building
Denver, October, 13 th 1895.

Mrs. Leland Stanford,
Palo Alto, Cal.

Dear Madam:-

Sentimentalists may loose [sic] no faith in the sun dial as a
time piece, when set to the meridian of theory, yet watching the hour
glass from day to day, season to season, will convince the world of the
practicle [sic] value of chronometres of progress, moved by main-springs of
human action.

Your victory is not alone a personal one. It is individual to
every human being, whose soul is attuned to the key of action. If
progress is evolution, there must be a fruit of success as well as a
flower of conception. There can be no vested purpose without a vested
right.

Please accept my congratulations. I am glad for you. I think
Mr. Garber has made a magnificent fight for you. You could not have an
abler representative. I hope you will soon have the judgment of these
courts affirmed.

Yours truly,
Geo. H. Gray
