you have written, but, my dear, it is so insufferably bad I could not read most of it. You certainly do write worse than I

As to the dress question

------------------------

Be sure you look as well as the rest of the Club. You know, I'm going to show off when you come. I'm going to [swell?] up over you. And you must look your best, even if you have to wear your new dress. Write immediately - Fred

My dear Mother:

Saturday the 31st. inst. will not be convenient for me, because I expect to return home and go to work in the Library on Friday the day preceding. The week following we have our week vacation, and any Saturday after that would be out of the question for I shall be even busier after vacation than I am now.

Next Saturday is probably the best time for you to come.

We do not know until a few hours before ascending the platform to receive our degrees whether we have passed or not. Oh! it's nerve-racking anticipation. I expect to graduate, but, you know, I can't tell for a certainty until I have my parchment in my hands. With Love -

Fred.

My dear Mother:

It was a famous victory! The U.C. baseball team came down to our campus to play and were defeated. This evens up the score, the third game deciding the series. The third game takes place upon the 28th. inst. and I shall probably be home for that occasion. Next Saturday the Field-Day occurs and

there will be a great many Berkeleyites down. Arthur Perry comes down with the Banjo Club and I have written him to come and stay with me. The Club gives a recital on the evening of the Field-Day.

We initiated a man Friday evening - a splendid fellow. He makes our fourteenth member.

Next year we shall move into a larger and better house, one nearer the center of town.

My name was published in the Chronicle yesterday among the candidates up for graduation at Commencement this year. No person whose name is omitted from this final list can graduate. But that does not mean that every one indicated in the list will positively graduate. The final examinations are yet to come and the theses are to be handed
