a dandy fellow. I like both him and his roommate Brewster from N. Dakota, very much. They invited me to their eating club last week and I had a wonderful time. Met a bunch of nice fellows. It's the same food as Encina, but it tasted so much more like home, - radio & everything.

I'm going riding with Kennedy & Robb tomorrow. I hardly know which end to get on but I'm sure we'll have a good time.

Had teo Span. exs. last week - a little one & a big one. I knocked them both for a loop. Got 95 in the little one & haven't the big one back but I know I hit it good. Studies coming O.K.

Got a letter from the McCannons yesterday. Believe me, they're sure in things at U. of [I?].

We had a wonderful Basketball game here last night. We beat U.C.L.A. 40 - 37 in an overtime game. U.C.L.A. leads the conference, you know, and was it an exciting game? Best I ever saw.

The former Capron girl, now Mrs. Richmond & her husband called on me last Sunday. They had their little boy, Bill, with them & they surely are nice people. I'm invited up whenever I want to go to Frisco. There address is 425 8th Avenue, Frisco. I know she'd love to hear from you. She says that they hit [gas?] on Lute's & Lauras place in Saco

Wish I could be there to lick Jim on his birthday!

Sunday Afternoon.

I may go to L.A. with Dick!

Dearest folks,

Say but I've surely been somewhat consistently engaged lately - and what, what, what. Last Sunday I hashed and studied. Monday I put in 13 hours of study; Tuesday, 12 hrs; Wednesday, 13 hrs; and Thursday 14 1/2 hrs., but it'll take a lot more to catch up before finals. They being the 18th of this month. I haven't any idea as to what grades I'll get this time so be prepared for good, bad, or indifferent.

That's certainly wonderful that you have a nice new clock and silverware. Bet you're sure putting on the puppy. Good for Jane getting B in Latin. She's following tradition of the family like me. Having a heck of a time with it and yet pulling down a B.

I heard from Leo last week. Very good letter only I don't believe business is very good.

John Ehrsam and I just took an airplane ride over at the flying school. Sure was wonderful. Got a marvelous perspective of the vicinity. Ehrsam's live across the hall from Basil Prescott's in Palo Alto. Very nice people. I had John, he's only 14 but a big fellow for his age, up for dinner and I'm going to their house for supper tonight. I was at

Basil's house for supper last night and then Jim Ehrsam, John's older brother, and I went to a dance at Menlo Park, between here and San Francisco. We didn't know what we were getting into and it turned out to be an Old Fashioned Dance, but we had a good time after all. The car went blink on the way home and we didn't arrive in P.A. till 5:15 A.M! We'd have been walking yet but a fellow stopped for a cup of coffee just as we were passing a Café so we asked him if he was going our way. He took us clear to P.A. and I stayed all night with Jon and Jim, getting up at the bright & early hour of noon.

Last Friday Stew Crawford and I bummed our way into Frisco and went to a dance in his car. Had a swell time, because it was a barn dance and we, in our usual apparel, fitted right in like a couple of farmers.

Helen Wills Moody played an exhibition match here Friday afternoon and is she wonderful? She defeated the Stanford Captain 6-2. I now am the proud possessor of a brand new personally autographed tennis ball from Miss Helen Wills.

The national junior girls champion also played here and she is by no means a slouch!

Anything more about Babe's job?

I'm going to P.O. now and hope to hear from you.

Lots of love, Tex

Sunday Night.

Dearest Everyone,

Well, here another week has crept by and Friday [modern notation] June [/modern notation] 13th [modern notation] 1930 [/modern notation] creeps closer - for that's the day we'll arrive, just in time for some real cocoa and peanut butter sandwiches. I think I'm coming home with a fellow named [modern notation] Jim [/modern notation] Blackwell who lives near Libby, Montaña; or maybe with Elizabeth Hewitt, in either case we'll drive right there. If I come with Blackwell, he'll probably stay all night there Friday and maybe Saturday - that is if it's all right with you.

Glad that Jim passed his physical exs. so well. I'll bet he sure looked cute. Too bad Edith is laid up. Hope she recovers soon.

Kennedy got some Spokane Papers the other day - all about the census etc. I was surprised when I saw that Spokane had only 115,500. I wonder if that included Hillyard too. Surely not much increase. Hope business picks up soon in Spokane. I guess maybe I won't send my laundry [anymore?]. Don't believe I'll need to.

Have you heard any more about Eva's coming this summer? Sure will be great if she can make it.

I got a letter from May Haseth a couple of days ago. She didn't remember me or the family very well, but she said to be sure to write again and see if I couldn't make myself known to her. She wrote a very interesting 4 page letter. I intend to write to her soon.

A couple of fellows whom I met in L.A. were up to visit Dick and I this weekend and we ran all over the country. [modern notation] Fresno? [/modern notation]. Saw the big track meet yesterday when Eric Kreng broke the world's discus record. Surely was great. Saw Stanford beat O.S.C. in polo twice - once Friday and once Saturday. It's some game.

Saw "All Quiet on the Western Front" the other night. Surely marvelous show. More like that and there'd be no more wars.

Well I have only 13 more letters to write this week and I'll be done, - that is to say caught up. I sure have got to study for 3 weeks now, too.

Well, needless to say I'm very anxious to get home and everything.

Love,

Tex
